According to industry insiders, a domestic equipment manufacturer has placed
the first 5G order to optical module manufacturers, with a size of about 10K,
which also foreshadows the 5G investment that attracts the attention of the
market, officially pulling the curtain.
It is reported that the main application scenario of 5G light modules is
the load network. Load bearing network is a connecting link, connecting base
station and core network. According to the past development history of mobile
data network, the load bearing network usually needs to be deployed 1-2 years in
advance. Based on the goal of 5G commercial application by 2020, the three major
operators are expected to start the construction of large-scale 5G carrying
network by the end of this year and in 2019.
5G puts higher requirements on the load bearing network. In order to
sustain profits and growth, mobile operators introduce new network access
architecture. The 5G bearing network consists of the following three parts:
prequel, middle pass and return pass. At present, the prediction of 5G bearing
network market space is mainly based on the above three parts. The development
of 5G bearing network simultaneously drives the market growth of fiber optic
cable, optical module and optical communication equipment. In the field of the
optical module, the main positive factors come from the demand of the optical
module from the front, middle and back pass, and the core ring of the load
bearing network. According to the forecasts of the demand for optical modules in
the three fields respectively, some institutions predict that the 5G bearing
network will bring a total growth of 62 billion yuan to the optical module
market, and the investment of the optical module in the total expenditure of the
5G bearing network will account for about 62 billion / 1.4 trillion =4.4%,
showing great market potential.
China telecom experts also pointed out in the recent speech that,
assuming that the number of 5G base stations at 3.5ghz is twice that of 4G base
stations at 1.8ghz, base stations are considered in three sectors, and it is
estimated that the whole 5G network will bring tens of millions of magnitude of
25/50/100gbps high-speed optical module dosage. Investment also rose by 725%
over the 4G period.
